Phlebotomist (Contract) – State College, Mount Nittany

Core Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection (venipuncture, capillary, arterial, special techniques)
• Verify patient identity before specimen collection
• Respond promptly to specimen requests and communicate delays
• Conduct bedside glucose testing with quality control compliance
• Prepare, label, and transport specimens accurately
• Guide patients on proper specimen collection (urine, sputum, etc.)
• Maintain organized workflow to avoid errors
• Ensure proper handling for reference lab testing
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and collection areas
• Assist with report distribution and lab support tasks

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified phlebotomy program.
• Experience: Hospital lab experience preferred.
• Certification: Certified Phlebotomist (ASCP, AMT, CLSI, or equivalent).
• Other: Valid BLS certification (as per American Heart Association, renewed every 2 years).
